A bin cabinet combines an enclosed steel cabinet with plastic bins mounted inside, so small parts stay sorted into individual compartments behind a lockable door rather than sitting exposed on open shelving. How is a bin cabinet different from open bin shelving?

The bins themselves work the same way, holding sorted small parts in labeled positions. What changes is the enclosure. A cabinet door keeps shop dust and debris off stored hardware, controls access to items you do not want walking off, and gives the storage area a cleaner face than an open bin rack. The tradeoff is speed, since opening a door adds a step that open shelving does not require.
